Event: Tate Modern Live: Push and Pull A two-day performance event
18.03.2011 - 19.03.2011: In 1963 Allan Kaprow created the performance environment Push and Pull: A Furniture Comedy for Hans Hoffmann, for which he created two furnished rooms and invited visitors (via a set of instructions) to rearrange the furniture as they saw fit. The artist completed his instructions by stating, ‘Each day things will change’ This idea forms the point of departure for a two-day performance series to explore contemporary theory as dialogue and ways in which it can be communicated in a performance situation.
Participating artists are Gregg Bordowitz, Ruth Buchanan, Andrea Geyer and Josiah McElheny, Melanie Gilligan, Florian Hecker and Mark Leckey, Rabih Mroué, and Sarah Pierce.
